Our services cover the full suite of business administration tasks including, accounting and tax compliance, tax management, bookkeeping, payroll, and Xero training services. For business owners, decision making is constant and must be made in a constantly changing environment.
We are located in the Takapuna CBD, however, cloud-based technology enables us to service clients anywhere in New Zealand.
Meet Our Team
Mark Spooner
Mark, the firm’s principal, is a Chartered Accountant. Originally a trade qualified butcher, Mark owned several successful retail butcheries and delicatessens before entering university to complete his first business degree.
‘After years of operating my own successful businesses, I wanted to learn more about the science of business and how accurate accounting information could improve decision making. After completing two business degrees, I enhanced my qualifications by becoming a Chartered Accountant.’
It is Mark’s unique background that gives him that edge to better help his clients.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (First Class Honours), and a Bachelor of Accountancy.
Amali Fonseka
Amali, a seasoned Chartered Accountant, brings a wealth of expertise in business advisory, taxation services, and commercial sectors. With a keen focus on understanding and addressing business issues, systems, and processes, Amali is well-equipped to assist clients in areas spanning accounting, management, and business growth. Her specialized knowledge extends to the property sector ranging from residential rentals to property development. Additionally, Amali actively contributes to the Not-for-Profit community service sector.

Amali holds a Master of Accounting (with Distinction), a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and is a member of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of London, and the Institute of Directors of New Zealand.
Clare Shi
Clare became a part of the Insight Accounting team in January 2023, bringing with her a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Auckland.

Fluent in both English and Mandarin, Clare possesses extensive experience in the commercial sector, with a focus on the manufacturing industry. Her expertise adds valuable insights to the dynamic landscape of accounting and tax.
Gabi Harpur
Gabi joined Insight Accounting in February 2024, having recently graduated from Massey University with a Bachelor of Accountancy.
‘I love accounting as it allows me to combine my passion for helping people with my analytical and critical thinking skills – I enjoy the story behind the numbers on a page.’
Whilst undertaking full-time study, Gabi funded her way through university with her own online business, buying and selling second-hand goods. This experience has given her firsthand insights into the unique challenges and opportunities faced by small business owners, especially those operating in the e-commerce space.
Sophie McRae
Sophie is very well experienced in all things bookkeeping and payroll.
‘After completing a business degree and working in corporate finance for several years, I had the opportunity to enter the world of bookkeeping and have never looked back. I have an eye for detail and strive to help clients manage their financial record keeping and payroll functions.’
Sophie’s skill set allows our clients to get on with doing what they do best, and not having to think about their bookwork.
Sophie holds a Bachelor of Business Studies and a Postgraduate Certificate in Accountancy.
